In the Beginning…
Medicinal use of peat goes back thousands of years and stretches worldwide affecting nearly every culture of our society.
Peat baths were used in ancient Greece, and have been used in central Europe for the last 200 years, primarily for treating arthritis and gynecological disorders. Ancient Europe, Asia, and Australia have used medicinal peat.
In 1820 peat baths for the entire body were introduced in Europe. During the second half of the century, the chemical characteristics were intensively studied. It became apparent that these products achieved impressive results, and so the manufacturing of peat extracts began!
Today, peat preparations are used for a variety of diseases from internal medicine to sports injuries, and from dermatology to cosmetics.

What is Peat?
Peat, the pharmacy of natural elements and matter, contains a variety of essential minerals, trace minerals, and other natural substances that are products of earth’s environment, composed by biological degradation of organic materials such as herbs, grasses, and flowering plants. These biochemical processes occur over approximately 40,000 years. The unique molecular structures of peat substances are able to maintain either hot or cold temperatures.
Peat substances are dark colored, predominately aromatic, acidic, hydrophilic, molecularly flexible polyelectrolytes which are also made up of organic material (formed by humification of vegetable matter.
